I am an Engineering Physicist by day and an enthusiastic knitter by night, plus a mother of two regular children and one fur baby 24/7.
I started knitting in 2017 after advice from my dermatologist. She looked at my hand eczema and said, half jokingly, that I should start crafting to keep my hands busy and help me leave my skin alone. My first try was in crochet but I never liked it. Then embroidery - nah. But after buying my first knitting needles in a thrift store it didn't take long before it was clear; I had found my craft.
First year everything was flat and wonky but after my mother in law taught me to knit socks I gained confidence. In spring 2019 I decided to give my first sweater a try, but I was terrified. Lo and behold, I finished it in two weeks and it wasn't the least scary. All of a sudden I had made three sweaters (picture) and my confidence grew so much that I decided to make my own first colorwork chart. I made a sweater from it for my mother and at this point ideas for more designs started sparking continuously.
I published my first pattern on Ravelry in August 2019 and since then I just keep going. I always want to learn more and try new things, both in knitting and in life, with no fear.
And I have been free from eczema for years.
When inspiration strikes for a new pattern it can come from anywhere; tiled floors, flowers and leaves, some knitting technique, a nice increase stitch, color combinations, weather phenomena, textiles, art, or someone I see in the subway. My designs are colorful and keep the knitter entertained. Although I strive to keep my patterns as simple and easy to understand as possible, they are usually scored Intermediate to Advanced by my testers.
A few words on sizing
My sweater patterns are graded from Small to 4XL from the Craft Yarn Council standard sizing table for women.
My goal in grading is to provide similar fit to all body sizes and to give guidance for possible alterations.
